Tualatin Valley Artists Now Showing The Art of Janet Raymound

Janet Raymond

Janet Raymond

Her earilest memory of making art was when she was five years old, laying on the kitchen floor, coloring with crayons on a large, white piece of butcher paper. She never stopped scribbling and daubing. She was horse crazy in her early school years. Her Mom would complain, "every piece of paper has a part of a horse drawn on it!" She did not take her art seriously enough to make it into a career though. She was content just having it as a stress relief; a private place of refuge. Now she painst mostly in watercolor or pen and ink. She lovse bright strong colors but does not have a favorite color. She loves them all. She like to do landscapes, florals, still-life and animals. She is a contemporary colorist and wants her pictures to evoke a feeling, more than an exact replication. Janet is mostly self-taught; she has been guided, supported and encouraged by her many friends. Janet has continously produced art throughout her life. She can't imagine living without making art in her life.

Janet Raymond is a new member of Tualatin Valley Artist and is now showing her work at Influence Gallery.

Heriberto Rodriquez Garcia

Heriberto Rodriquez Garcia

Heriberto was born in Mexico City. He became interested in art at a very early age. For the last six years, Heriberto has been working in different medias, including Pastels, Watercolors, Oil, Pencil, and Acrylic. His intention is to express and give knowledge of a part of himself with his work. In the past, Heriberto was limited by circumstances and time. Now Heriberto is glad for the time and the space he needs to make art. Heriberto's art is deeply influenced by his life and heritage, or as he puts it, "by where life finds me".

Heriberto's greatest interest at the moment is in giving new and different life to the buffalo. "The buffalo is a beautiful animal", he says. "The buffalo has the will to fight, strong by nature, but also serene. Heriberto tries to incorporate Aztec symbols, colors, and the culture that is part by his Mexican heritage.

You can see Heriberto's work at the Influence gallery starting in May of 2008.
